Dr. Sam Malafeh

Sam Malafeh, PhD in Economics (The University of Auckland, New Zealand), is an innovative and results-driven leader in education focused on achieving exceptional results in highly competitive environments. Sam has a proven track record of building a strong team to deliver quality education. He is experienced in driving quality operations, processes, and customer service improvements while building partnerships with key business decision-makers. Sam is passionate about education and believes in empowering people, whether they are students, academics, colleagues or other individuals.

In his previous role as the Chief Executive Officer of a New Zealand education provider, Sam led the five schools operating in the group to offer education for employment and enterprise.The schools were repeatedly rated highly by New Zealand Qualifications Authority. They are known as schools with exceptional support to students, maintaining the integrity, high-quality delivery and high employment outcomes for graduates.

Principal & Academic Director, Malvern House London

Ms. Jean Daruvala

Jean joined Malvern House London as Academic Director in 2008 and was later appointed Principal. Prior to that, she worked in a variety of central London schools for several years as an EFL teacher, teacher trainer, Director of Studies and examiner for various exam boards. Jean came to EFL through her love of language and communication and her career started many years ago in Hong Kong, where she spent four years teaching EFL to adults and children of all backgrounds.

Jean has a degree in psychology and a diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Her current role involves overseeing the operations of the London centre with responsibility for its accreditations. Jean works closely with the Sales and Marketing team to develop and promote our centre and she is committed to maintaining and improving the standards of provision in all aspects for students and for staff.

General Manager, Malvern International Academy, Singapore

Ms. Ritu Manchanda

Ritu, MCom, has over 25 years of experience in the education sector and has brought breadth and depth to the administration of many private institutions. She has personally liaised with reputable overseas universities for the last 15 years and has looked into areas such as on-boarding, accreditation, supervision and conduct of university programmes here in Singapore and abroad, both for the Malay/Muslim community and for the general market at large. She managed the Trinity of College London Programmes in Singapore, headed the Department of Accounting and EFL at FTMS and was the Academic Head at AEC Education Group. She worked as the Director of Studies at Cambridge School of Languages. She was the CEO of AEC Business School in Chennai, India where students were recruited for engineering programmes in Temasek Polytechnic. She worked as a Manager for JBS International College, an affiliate of Jamiyah Singapore, a non profit organization handling the ‘youth at risk programmes’.

She has worked closely with marketing heads to ensure that courses are pitched effectively to the target market. She is adept at managing stake holder expectations especially students and shareholders. She is also a lead auditor (ISO9001-2008). She is well regarded by CPE, Spring and by Case Trust.

She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Business Administration in the area of Quality Assurance in private education. She is continuously improving her knowledge and experience in managing larger schools and establishments. She is able to provide insight from within the Education Ministry and can assist in direction setting, strategy conception and corporate governance.

Managing Director, Malvern International Academy, Malaysia

Mr. Victor Chan

Victor Chan graduated from Universiti Malaya in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) majoring in Geography.

Victor has over 35 years of working experience covering FMCGs, Banking, Logistics and Education.

Prior to joining Malvern in 2014, Victor has over the past 15 years worked with leading Malaysian Universities such as KDU, APIIT and SEGI. He has held various senior management positions from Group Marketing Director, Principal to Chief Operating Officer.

Victor is now the Managing Director of Malvern International Academy Malaysia handling both the College and Vocational Skills operations.

Global Head of Sales & Marketing

Mr. Ben Delaney

Ben is an experience and driven sales professional with over 10 years experience of business to business sales in the ESL Sector. He has worked in many markets around the world including Asia Pacific, Russia/CIS & the Middle East, however he focused primarily on the European and Latin American regions in recent years. He has worked in both high-end and volume driven ESL businesses and have also worked within the worlds largest tourism company.

Group Financial Controller & Operations Director, Malaysia

Mr. Sundrarajan Murugeya

Sundra joined the group in year 2000 as a Finance Executive, played a vital role, assisting the Group Financial Controller in handling the finance unit as well as incorporated 15 overseas companies for the Group. He is with Corporate Office of the group based in Malaysia ever since he joined and in year 2005, he was assigned the additional portfolio in the area of operations of Malvern International College and Institute of Management Studies. Sundra hold a Masters in Business Admin, majoring in Accounting and Finance. He has more than 16 years of vast experience in Education industry, finance as well as administrations aspects too.

UK Senior Academic Advisor

Mr. Ian Brooks

Professor Ian Brooks has recently joined the group as the UK Senior Academic advisor. Professor Brooks has recently retired from his position as the Deputy Dean of the Business school. Now Director at Brooks International Education Limited and Visiting Professor of the University of Northampton, he was the Executive Dean of the Northampton Business School (NBS), at the University of Northampton until 2016. The school was nominated in 2014, 2015 for the Times Higher Education Business School of the Year. He was also the University’s strategic lead for internationalisation, academic alliances, the taught portfolio and academic planning and Director of the University’s International Office and the Academic Partnership and Planning Office. A Fellow of the RSA, his teaching and research background lies in organisational behaviour and business strategy.

Professor Ian Brooks has published his work in many peer reviewed journals, including Organization Studies, the British Journal of Management and Long Range Planning. His popular text book, Organisational Behaviour, is in its 4th edition (5th shortly). He now combines a range of board level responsibilities with higher education advisory and consultancy activity in the private and public sectors in the UK and overseas. As a UK Senior Academic Advisor, Professor Brook will provide support to the executive team towards it programme and partnership expansion.

Group Secretary

Ms. Jane Lau

Jane has more than 15 years of experience as personal assistant to CEO, handling company’s secretarial and corporate work, following up on financial and operational matters as required, assisting HR on appointments and dealing with Manpower policies.

As the group secretary, Jane would continue to do the same but at the Group level to assist Group CEO, Group Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer on secretarial, administrative and operational follow ups.

Head of Corporate and Business Development

Mr. Sabin Joshi

Sabin Joshi is a Senior General Manager at CG Corp Global. Mr. Joshi heads the Global Asset Management, M&A and Investment for the group

He has an MBA from the Indian School of Business with experience spanning over 12 years across various sectors such as Commercial Banking, Hospitality, Education, Microfinance in various functions such as Investment Management, Asset/Portfolio Management, Fund Raising, Mergers and Acquisitions etc.

He had also worked as an Assistant Vice President of Spandana Sphoorty Financial Limited, which was the second largest microfinance company in India, after having started his career at Standard Chartered Bank. He has served on various boards such as Lumbini Bank Nepal Limited, Nabil Investment Bank Limited, Taj Safari Limited, Taj Lanka Hotels PLC, Taj Maldives Resort Pvt Ltd, and Malvern International plc.

Ms. Wei Lin

Wei Lin joined Malvern since January 2017, prior to that, Wei was heading the administration and student services department in one of the largest international education providers in New Zealand. Wei has extensive knowledge and experience in running operation and special projects for CEO in the previous job. Wei Lin is a graduate from Auckland University of Technology and is now pursing MBA. She believes education is the most powerful weapon one can use to change the world. When not at work, Wei enjoys driving, travelling and golf.
