Originally established in the mid-1980s, the organisation was initially established to provided correspondence courses for computer training in Singapore. Seeing the opportunity in providing educational programmes, the company was reorganised in 1988 and became a broad-based education company. Following this restructure, the company began to develop partnership programmes with internationally recognised universities and institutions.
In 1995, Malvern established an educational group in Malaysia in partnership with Tunku Iskandar, a member of the Malaysian royal family of Negeri Sembilan, giving the group a strong presence in the rapidly expanding market in Malaysia.
In 2003, the Group merged with Education Resources Pte Ltd of Singapore, which had an exclusive licence to deliver London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI)’s International Qualification Certificates in 24 Asian countries.
In 2004, the organisation was listed on AIM, the London Stock Exchange, as a Singapore Resident company with operations in Singapore and Malaysia.
In 2016, Malvern went through a substantial change in strategic direction with a new leadership team to re-focus its presence in different locations. The move led to significant quality improvement followed by an acquisition in Singapore in 2017 and in Manchester in 2018. The group also became a delivery partner to the University of East London in 2018.
